MBarClock is another style of menu bar clock. Since it╒s an application, it╒s real conflict-free.
Requirements
To use MBarClock you need the following:
- a Mac
- System 7.0 or later
- Color Quickdraw
- 96K of free memory
Basic usage
To use MBarClock, just double-click it as exactly the same as you do to your applications.
BALLOON HELP IS AVAILABLE FOR ITEMS IN MENU AND SETTING WINDOWS. Turn balloons on first time you use MBarClock and customize it as you like.
What╒s in the Menu
File Menu
- Install Alias...
Installs alias of MBarClock into Startup Items folder in your System Folder.
It makes MBarClock to startup everytime when your Mac starts up.
- Remove Alias...
Removes alias of MBarClock from Startup Items folder in your System Folder.
Use it if you no longer want MBarClock to start up everytime when your Mac starts up.
- Quit
Quits MBarClock
Edit Menu - Nothing here...
Preferences Menu
- General Display Settings
Opens Display Settings window (see below)
- Display Update Frequency
Opens Display Update Frequency window (see below)
- Display Icons
Opens Display Icons window (see below)
- Launcher to Front at Startup
If checked, MBarClock switches the front application to its launcher (usually Finder) at startup.
- Don╒t Show Display if MenuBar is Hidden
If checked, MBarClock doesn╒t draw displays if there╒s no MenuBar (like while screensaver is on).
- Keep Screen Round Rect
If checked, MBarClock keeps the top of the screen from being sharp-edged.
- Confirm Before Quitting
If checked, MBarClock asks you if you really want to quit MBarClock when you choose Quit from menu. (MBarClock doesn╒t ask if it quits because of AppleEvent).
- Ignore Q for Quit
If checked, MBarClock ignores command-Q for Quit.
- Tell Ignored typing
If checked, MBarClock tells you that you are typing for real nothing.
- Update Date / Time Format
Updates date / time format to the format that you set in Date & Time control panel.
What╒s in thePreferences Windows
Display Settings window
- Show Display Here
If checked, MBarClock draws a display there.
- Primary Display Type
Choose what to display in the display from this pop-up menu.
You can choose the same display for both left and right display.
- Change type while pointed
If checked, MBarClock displays alternative type of display while mouse is within the display.
- Alternative Display Type
Choose alternative display type from this pop-up menu.
Display Update Frequency window
- Scroll Bar
Set interval of updates of display here.
If you set it to 0, MBarClock updates displays every moment, but takes up lots of CPU time and slows down other applications.
If you set it to a 600, MBarClock takes only small amount of CPU time, but updates displays every 10 seconds.
Default is 120 ticks (2 seconds), and MBarClock takes about 1% of CPU time.
Display Icons window
- Use Icon File
If selected, MBarClock uses external icon file to draw displays.
- Choose Icon File...
Lets you select an external icon file.
- Use Built-in Icons
If selected, MBarClock uses internal icons to draw displays.
- Choose Folder...
Lets you select icon file folder.
In the open dialog, open an icon file in the icon folder to select the folder.
- List
List of icon files in icon folder. If you haven╒t select the folder, nothing is in here.
You can choose an icon file by double-clicking name of the file.
- >> Use
Chooses selected icon file in the list as current icon file.
Other Notes
Ñ THIS VERSION OF MBARCLOCK IS THE BETA VERSION, WHICH MEANS THE CHIMER FUNCTION IS NOT COMPLETED. VERSION 2.0 WILL BE AVAILABLE BEFORE END OF THIS YEAR. COMPLETION OF THE FINAL VERSION WILL BE ANNOUNCED TO THE USERS WHO SEND ME A MAIL.

Ñ If you want to include MBarClock in your CD-ROM, floppy disk, etc. please get permission from me before you do it.
